How To Become An Author
How to become an author. It’s easier than you might be thinking or might have thought for years.
For me becoming an author isn’t just about writing a book - it’s also about thinking. If you think (and I know you do) the other part is actually getting those ideas from your head and onto paper or onto your screen.
To become an author you really have to just START writing.
Let me take you back.
Around the year 1997 when I was still a hair salon owner, I finally worked out a system on how to get and keep my staff busy. Then I got given a computer (long story) from a client of mine in return for me writing his advert (another long story).
Suddenly I had a computer or Pentium 90 that I had no idea how to use. A pal of mine - Andrew with a serious lack of teeth came to my home and showed me how to use and a revolutionary tool called WORD. It was then I thought it would be a good idea to write down my little system for keeping my staff busy.
A little later on another pal asked me if I had thought of turning it into a book. I said no but thought about it for a while and then in 1999 published my first book (eBook) named Salon Column Builder. It was a great success and still sells today as part of a huge business manual I created now in print.
Suddenly I was an author although I really didn’t give it much thought, I just started writing. That led to me becoming an author.
I started writing and kept writing until I had put the last word down. In other words a start a middle and an end. All of this was just thoughts taken from my head and put into print.
My advice to you if you really want to become an author is really very simple.
Start thinking about your book.
Start writing and don’t stop until all of your ideas and thoughts are out and on paper or your screen.
And that is the very first step to becoming an author.
Seems too simple right?
Well at the start of this little blog I did say it was simple.
If I can do it anyone can do it.
