How to Write A Book with No Experience- How I Wrote a Book

Why I Wrote a Book and What I Discovered in the process of writing a book.

How do you write a book and get published? I had been blogging seriously since 2008 when a friend told me I should seriously consider writing a book. I thought about it but I also thought about all the possible obstacles.

Things like

  • Book Agents

  • Publishers and how to publish a book

  • Book cover: How to create the best book cover for my book

  • Layout: How to edit and format my book

And frankly just writing it. How would an ex-hairdresser with no real writing education be able to actually write a book?

So I Began Writing a Book.

It was at the tail end of a divorce, bankruptcy, and a ton of crazy stuff.

I had this idea of writing a book but I was all over the place. Around that time I had the opportunity to go and stay in California at a friend’s house to try to get over my personal madness.

Before I left I thought about what my friend kept saying about wiring a book. So I decided that whilst in California I would sit down and write a book. I bought a small netbook (as they were called then) jumped on the plane and once there I began to write.

Bear in mind I had never written anything like this before I tell you the next bit. When I got home after 3 months I had a document that I had no idea what to do with.

I asked a friend and he said to send it to publishers and agents. I did that with zero replies. Eventually, a publisher told me they were interested in the book but they also told me there was a problem or two or three or even four.

I had written a document with no spaces in between paragraphs. It was one single paragraph from start to end of 40,000 words. Clearly, this wasn’t the way to write a book. They asked me if I would look over it all and do some formatting to the book.

To be honest I tried to do that but it was far too big a job for me. I simply deleted the file and started again. I know that sounds dramatic but I also think it was a better book for it. Two years later my book was finished. The publisher wanted it and it was published.

Is It Easy To Write a Book?

Not really. What I fail to mention is all the other stuff like cover design, ISBN, copyright, and a ton of other things that has to be right for a book to get published.

But published it got and it can be found anywhere online today. The book is called, Escape from Zoomanity.

The reason I am sharing that is to help you realise that writing a book - your book is more than possible. Even better it can be fast-tracked. You can avoid a lot of the mistakes I made (like one paragraph of 40,000 words) once you know what you should be doing.

So hold tight and stay connected here because as time passes we will be loading more and more tips, secrets, help, and advice on how you can write a book the best way possible.

Alan
