Googling Help Me To Write My Book

I recently Googled how to write a book for new authors.

Interesting to say the least.

The return was over 100 million!!!

After a little research, I realised that most ‘experts’ telling you how to write your book and get published have never written a book or been published! It appears most of them have really just written a small booklet about what they are selling.

WOW … I don’t know what else to say (because it really isn’t that easy).

You see when I started writing I didn’t have a clue what to do. I just wrote and wrote and wrote and I suppose that made me feel like I had become a writer.

Yes, I had become a writer, but truly not a great writer like I would want to be (I was still a hairdresser at the time).

I found the best way forward was to write. This was the only way to improve my writing.

You get better as you write - never worse.

So the best advice I can give anyone without paying for advice from those that have never written a thing in their life is to just start writing.

Get a notepad and pen or a small computer or anything that you feel good writing in or on and make a start.

Recently my eldest son reminded me of some writing I did in 1979.

It says this.

“The air we breathe

The things we smell

This isn’t heaven

This isn’t hell

This is our world

The place we live

To help pollute

So much we give.”

This was a lyric for a band I had as a teenager in 1979.

But look at it.

It is simple and says what I was thinking at the time.

Sometimes writing can be as simple as making a start with your writing and practicing and practicing your writing.

But …

Do you need an author and writer that has been there and done everything already to advise you forward with your book?

I did it alone but it took me years.

It depends on how fast you want to create the reality of being a published author.

I know this post is a bit of a ramble but be careful where you get your advice from as a new author and writer.

Yours

Alan
